US Coast Guard Practices Ice Rescues In Michigan

ice-rescue-abc.jpgABC affiliate WJRT in Michigan went along as the US Coast Guard practiced ice rescue on Station Saginaw River. The training involved the students themselves going into the icy cold water to be rescued by their classmates.

In the two videos you can see them wearing our Breathable Immersion Work Suit that you can use as a regular work suit and double as an ice rescue immersion suit as well as the US Coast Guard SAR Vest with LIFT.

Ice Rescue In Massachusetts

ice-rescue-cnn.jpgThis video from CNN was spotted by Colin in our shipping department. It is of a dramatic Ice Rescue of Jason Dubois of Weymouth, Mass who went through the ice of a frozen pond walking home through the dark this last Sunday morning. The fire rescue team that came to his rescue were wearing the Mustang Survival Ice Commander immersion suit.

There is another video from the NBC affiliate WHDH where they interviewed Jason after the rescue.

The Guard On GlobalTV Starts Tuesday

KP5E2507_sm.JPGThe Guard, a new dramatic series on GlobalTV has its premier Tuesday night. It is centered around the lives of four imperfect and sometimes difficult, but heroic Canadian Coast Guard rescue specialists. Filmed here on Canada’s west coast, each episode will feature a different rescue. According to the show’s producers:

The Pacific Ocean collides into Canada’s mountainous coastline in one of the most beautiful and treacherous locations on earth, Port Hallet. Here, human beings go up against nature at their peril – because nature almost always wins. In a place like this, Rescue Specialists know that disasters follow few rules. Decisions, which may cost or save lives, are made as quickly as reflexes allow. This is a series about the men and women who make them.

It looks like there are going to be lots of action, drama and of course Mustang Survival gear!

Mustang Inflatable Life Jackets In Dramatic Rescue

Oklahoma Flood RescueIt must have been terrifying for Leroy and Bernice Krittenbrink when flood waters over took their truck last week in Oklahoma. The Oaklahoma Highway Patrol dropped inflatable life jackets to them to keep them safe until they could effect a helicopter rescue. Both Leroy and Bernice had trouble holding on and ended up in the water for a second time. Hear their account of what happened when the spoke to Matt Lauer on the Today Show.

The Daily Show

Daily Show's Rob Riggle In IraqLast night I was watching The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and they introduced a new segment that’s going to run all week - Operation Silent Thunder: The Daily Show in Iraq. Correspondent Rob Riggle will be reporting from REAL, ACTUAL Iraq. In last night’s segment, he was wearing one of Mustang’s inflatable PFDs (personal flotation devices) that military uses!

I had no idea he’s a Major in the US Marine Corps Reserve and has served in places like Kosovo and Afghanistan. He’s over in Iraq entertaining the troops as part of a USO show.

Air Dogs

What happens when a seasoned Snowbird pilot and a weekend Cessna flier take to the skies for a little friendly competition? Air Dogs - a high-flying series that pairs air force test pilot Captain Robert J. Reichert (a.k.a. “Rooster”) and filmmaker Mark Miller on a daring quest to fly the fastest, the oldest and most unusual planes in North America. Mustang Survival is supporting the program, which you can see on Discovery Civilization in Canada with NOMEX flight suits.

In one adrenaline-filled episode, they push their skills to the limit attempting to land a vintage air trainer on the roof of a RV speeding down a short runway at over 90 kilometres an hour. World famous air show pilot Kent Pietch spends time teaching them the technique, but can they do it?!?
