Corporate Background
A reputation that's been with us for life.

In 1967 Mustang's founder, Mr. Irv Davies, introduced the first Mustang Floater Coat. With that one act, a new wave in survival gear was created. A grassroots entrepreneur, Mr. Davies opened a small factory with five employees which included his teenaged son, Dwight. Back then Mr. Davies designed the product and cut the material, while Dwight glued the foam.

It was a team effort which, along with a commitment to quality products, set a strong foundation for the fledgling company. From there grew Mustang's most consistent and enduring qualities: to change the rules, challenge the status quo and innovate, innovate, innovate.

By the mid-seventies, Mr. Dwight Davies took over the company and the transition from a grassroots company to a major international business had begun.

From its' early roots, Mustang has never looked back, launching Mustang Survival Inc., its Bellingham, WA USA facility and Mustang R & D Dept., a state-of-the-art research and development division which, in no time, became a world leader in protective garmentry and one of the most respected divisions in the survival business. The latest addition to the company was the acquisition of Mustang Survival Mfg, Inc. (formerly Wirt Inflatable Specialists), located in Elizabeth West Virginia, USA.

Today Mustang Survival is stronger than ever, still employing many of the original employees. Among them, Mr. Dwight Davies, remains President. Though Mustang is a world class brand name and an unrivaled 21st century product line, Mustang is clearly a people company above all else. That explains why we place so much value on life.
