At Mustang, every single product from military to recreational gear is made as though lives depend on it - because they do. |
Mustang Survival's two manufacturing facilities are where thousands of Mustang products are made
At company headquarters in Richmond…
Products move from idea to prototype to manufactured good right here at company headquarters- we research, test, design, and manufacture our products right where they are conceived. This affords us both flexibility and control in the manufacturing process.
In our Research & Development laboratory, a team of scientists and engineers develops technologies in flotation, hypothermia, fire, environment and 'G' Force protection. This team simulates the conditions necessary to evaluate how well a garment or fabric will respond.
Our quality team ensures that every component of our products -every zipper, roll of fabric, piece of webbing - is inspected when it arrives in our shipping bay. If a product is inferior, we send it back.
Our Marketing team works with industry members and to respond to customer needs and create products and services to address these needs. Once a product is manufactured the marketing team continues to work with engineers and industry professionals to address additional needs, customization issues, and further innovations to the product line.
At Mustang Survival, garments are not created to fit fashion or trends-they are designed as solutions to survival requirements based on criteria and data gathered by an international base of clients and suppliers. Of course, we don't ignore the aesthetic of our products: we know they only work if you wear them.
How it all comes together…
Once a product has been designed, our prototype shop makes a sample. If the prototype meets the requirements of the industry the patterns are then graded and digitized.
On the manufacturing floor, computer cutters are used to cut through layers of fabric and foam. Once pieces have been marked, they are sewn, welded, or glued together.
Before we expect our products to survive nature's challenges, they have to survive ours.
Leak tests are performed on every single garment that requires water tightness. Anti-G garments are leak and operating pressure tested, providing each one with an individualized test report. Our ISO 9001 commitment ensures quality throughout every manufacturing process.
Inflation tests are conducted on all inflatable bladders and our patented Mustang Airsoft™ Foam is buoyancy tested.
Our employees produce buoyant snowmobile suits, Coast Guard work suits, inflatable lifejackets for NASA, Anti-G garments for fighter pilots, and children's lifejackets, all with the same skill and dedication.
Mustang Survival-we save lives for a living.
